Information about the provider (be it a freelancer or company) includes: Though there is variation among invoices, the standard format of any invoice includes the following: information about the provider and client, invoice number, invoice dates, an itemized list of services, balance due, and payment form. The payment is usually settled immediately, whereas an invoice allows more time for payment.Ī bill can be an itemized list of several invoices. A bill can be used in almost all industries-from restaurants and spas to online shopping-and can be used for one-time payments. The confusion arises primarily because of semantics-white-collar professionals refer to worked hours as “billable hours,” clients often use the broader term to phrase it as, “Send me the bill.” Some invoices use the verb “bill” to address the Client, e.g., “Bill to Client X.”Īn invoice is a type of bill, but not all bills are invoices. Technically, these two are not the same, but are similar. What is the difference between an invoice and a bill? Invoices are rarely used for one-time payments. If these require instant payment, they would most likely not issue invoices. You would not need an invoice in the food, hospitality, entertainment, retail, and e-commerce industries. You would not send an invoice if you’ve been paid in full before the start of the project-unless required from the client for their bookkeeping and financial records. Invoices are not necessary for all types of payment or business. For this reason, an invoice must be detailed and accurate otherwise, it can be challenged by your client. For instance, the IRS requires your invoices, sales slips, account statements, and checks as proof supporting your business transactions.Īn invoice in and of itself is NOT a legally binding document, but it may be used as proof if there’s a contract in place. Invoices are tax documents depending on the country and type of work-freelancing, entrepreneurship, etc.-they are necessary for bookkeeping. Throughout this article, we’ll refer to invoices from a client-provider point of view for brevity. When it comes to services and hours worked, the invoice is between a client and a provider. Depending on what’s transacted, for example, goods and products, the invoice is between a buyer/customer and a seller. Invoices are documents stating the transaction between two entities. Simply put, an invoice is a document listing the goods (e.g., products) or services provided (e.g., hours worked) along with payment terms-total sum and due date-agreed upon between two parties. But polls show that voters aren't giving the president much credit for these investments. The President and his top officials have been traveling the country to promote their work on climate, infrastructure and manufacturing as the 2024 presidential election draws closer. The White House says about two-thirds of the $7 billion investment will go toward developing green hydrogen by using solar and wind energy to produce it. Where that power comes from defines how "clean" it is.įor example, hydrogen produced from natural gas is called "gray hydrogen." Renewable energy like wind and solar are used to produce "green hydrogen." But the production of hydrogen requires a lot of energy. Hydrogen emits only water when burned as fuel, or in a fuel cell for vehicles. To achieve this balance requires replacing coal and oil with cleaner fuels. The Biden administration's push for hydrogen comes as part of a national goal to achieve net zero carbon emissions by 2050 - meaning the amount of carbon dioxide going into the atmosphere is balanced by removing carbon emissions over a period of time. States in the region expressed disappointment, but said they're not giving up on hydrogen. This $3.62 billion proposal from New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Maine, Rhode Island, Connecticut and Vermont would have built out more than a dozen projects in the region to help produce hydrogen. Not every proposal came away with federal funding, including the Northeast Hydrogen Hub, for example. Newsom also said the project's benefits will flow to disadvantaged communities, but California environmental justice groups are pushing back saying they've been shut out of the process. "And I just couldn't be more enthusiastic." "It's about manufacturing, it's about jobs, clean manufacturing, clean energy jobs," he said. Officials estimate that will cut two million metric tons of carbon emissions.Ĭalifornia Governor Gavin Newsom said the hydrogen projects will create hundreds of thousands of new jobs. One goal is to power sites like the state's busy ports with carbon free power. Supporters say the hub will create more than 10,000 jobs and remove the equivalent of 220,000 gas-powered cars every year from the roads.Ĭalifornia will receive more than $1 billion to develop and deploy clean renewable hydrogen. The process, called electrolysis, can produce the greenest form of hydrogen, with only oxygen as a byproduct. The goal is to produce hydrogen fuel by splitting the element from water using abundant renewable power in the area. Washington, Oregon and Montana will get up to $1 billion to create a hydrogen hub in the Pacific Northwest. West Virginia senators Joe Manchin and Shelley Moore Capito backed the project.ĪRCH2 will be eligible for up to $925 million in federal funding and create up to 18,000 construction jobs and 3,000 permanent jobs if it is fully built out, administration officials said. ARCH2 is led by the state of West Virginia, Pittsburgh-based natural gas company EQT, and several other companies and institutions. MACH2 also promises to create 20,000 jobs.Īn Appalachian Regional Clean Hydrogen Hub, or ARCH2, also was selected and would have projects in West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Ohio and Kentucky. One hub project includes Philadelphia Gas Works, the nation's largest municipal owned utility, producing hydrogen to power trucks at the Port of Philadelphia. Pennsylvania, Delaware and New Jersey make up the Mid-Atlantic Clean Hydrogen hub, or MACH2, and would get $750 million to help utilize the region's legacy fossil fuel infrastructure, including pipelines, oil refineries and port facilities. The funding comes from the 2021 Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. Hubs include California, the Gulf Coast of Texas, the Ohio River Valley, a Midwest hub encompassing Illinois, Indiana and Michigan, as well as a region that includes North and South Dakota, and Minnesota. The Department of Energy selected the seven hubs, which involve 17 states, in a competitive process that began with 79 applications. The administration claims the majority of projects would fast track commercial-scale "clean hydrogen" production. Hydrogen, an odorless and highly combustible molecule, is largely produced from natural gas, but it can also be made from water by using electricity. Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm called Friday's announcement the "dawn of a new manufacturing sector in the United States." 12/24/2023 0 Comments Apex beast of preyThe roundworm here is the parasite, rather than just the vector, like mosquitos. When pursuing prey through the water they can also reach speeds of 18mph. Males can grow to a length of 6 metres and weigh 1,300 kg. It is also fierce, fast, and intimidating, being the largest living reptile and crocodilian known. The saltwater crocodile however is one of the most likely to see humans as prey. One blow from an elephant is enough to kill, and around 500 deaths a year are caused in this way. Groups of elephants have been known to raid farms and villages, and will gore or trample any humans that get in the way. This is in part due to their sheer size and weight, as the largest living land animals.īecause of habitat loss and encroaching farmlands into elephant home areas, they are coming into contact with humans more and more frequently, and this has led to conflict. We may perhaps think of elephants as gentle, thoughtful creatures, but they can also be deadly. Elephants ( Elephantidae family) 500 deaths per year African elephant on the move. Sharks, although often unjustly perceived as very deadly, do not even make this list, being responsible for only six human deaths a year on average. What you will learn from this list of deadliest animals however is that size and strength can be deceiving. When you think of deadly and dangerous animals, what springs to mind? It is likely big, carnivorous, apex predators, such as lions, wolves, or sharks. The project, Planes and Birds: Minimizing Energy, asks how birds can minimize power and energy by flapping their wings versus gliding. This dilutes the patient's blood so that fewer red blood cells are lost during bleeding and the extracted blood is returned to the patient after surgery. Two new projects have been added: The project, Controlling Red Blood Cell Loss During Surgery, describes the ANH procedure, in which blood is extracted from the patient before an operation and is replaced by saline solution. Several new application based problems in the book have been added to help the students strengthen the understanding of concepts and make the leap to discovering the impact of Calculus in its various applications. New examples have been added (see Example 6.1.5, for instance), and the solutions to some of the existing examples have been amplified. The data in examples and exercises have been updated. These sections reinforce concepts by requiring students to apply techniques from more than one chapter of the text, and by patiently showing them how to approach a challenging problem. More challenging exercises called "Problems Plus" follow the end-of-chapter exercises. "Strategies" sections (based on George Polya's problem-solving methodology) help students select what techniques they'll need to solve problems in situations where the choice is not obvious, and help them develop true problem-solving skills and intuition. The wide variety of types of exercises includes many technology-oriented, thought-provoking, real, and engaging problems.Ĭomprehensive review sections follow each chapter and further support conceptual understanding. Each exercise set is carefully graded, progressing from skill-development problems to more challenging problems involving applications and proofs. Stewart's text offers an extensive collection of more than 8,000 quality exercises.
